What the flag of Denmark means
The Dannebrog is said to be the oldest national flag in continuous use. Legend says it fell from the sky during a battle in Estonia in 1219, but the red flag with a white cross is first recorded in the 14th century. Its cross became the model for the other Nordic flags.
