What the flag of Syria means
This is the flag first used when Syria gained independence in 1932, raised again by the opposition from 2011 and adopted by the transitional government in 2025. Green, white and black recall the Rashidun, Umayyad and Abbasid caliphates, and the three red stars originally stood for three historic regions of Syria.
